Conversion

Question:
What is necessary for me to do to convert to Karaite Judaism?

Answer: In order to become a Karaite, you must be willing to order your life and agree with the following:

(A)     I believe Sovereign YHWH is the only Elohiym, and I reject any other.

(B)
I accept the Tanakh (TN'K.. called the old testament by the nations)  as the word of YHWH.  I hold it as the binding authority and reject all human doctrine that does not agree with it

(C)     I will study Tanakh and attempt to understand it according to the plain meaning and when understanding I will make every effort to obey.

Accepting the principles voiced in the ancient Karaite Vow are also required and are as follows:

"By the covenant of Mt. Sinai and the statutes of Mt. Horeb I will keep the  appointed times of YHWH based upon the sighting of the first sliver of the new moon and the finding of the Aviv in  Israel, whenever possible."

All males must be circumcised.  Circumcision may be performed by a physician. A rabbi is not required to satisfactorily obey the law of circumcision.

Those who wish to convert should begin practicing living by Torah. By doing this, the potential convert will have become accustomed to living by the daily commandments (ie. regular Torah study, prayer, properly keeping Shabbat, following the requirements of kashrut, and maintaining purity within the family).

Question: If I am Torah observant but believe Jesus/Yahshua was the Messiah and the divine son of Elohiym, may I still be a Karaite?

Answer:  Karaites do not believe in Jesus/Yahshua or what ever you may call him, nor do they believe in the so called New Testament.

Question: What does the name Karaite mean?

Answer: The name Karaite means "Followers of the Scriptures". Thus Karaites look within the Hebrew Scriptures to find the directions and truths by which to live.

Question: Must I convert if I am a member of the twelve lost tribes of Israel?

Answer: Since it is impossible to for anyone but YHWH to know who and where the individual members of one of the 'lost tribes' are, we must proceed by accepting the fact of 'not knowing'.

One of the following must apply:

"(1)    He joins himself to YHWH by vowing before other Israelites that ‘YHWH is my God and Israel is my people’.

 (2)
He has an unbroken tradition that his ancestors were Israelites (Ezra 2:63).  Rediscovering that you are a member of a lost tribe is not the same thing as a father-to-son tradition that your ancestors were Israelites.  "

Question: I am  Jewish .  Is conversion necessary?

Answer: To be a Karaite, Jews simply need to accept the fundamentals of Karaism, reject  false doctrine and begin living by Torah.
